Halloween

Halloween is always an adventure. This year we had Wonder Woman, Winnie the Pooh, and Eeyore. We went to a ward Trunk or Treat party which turned out to be a blast with games and socializing. The weather was awesome and so was the extra hour of sunlight. Ellyn and Quinn looked good, but Coulson was absolutely adorable. He would toddle around collecting candy from people and then give them one from his bucket in return, at nearly 14 months old he is already starting to share. After filling their buckets with goodies we headed home for our spooky movie "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" it is an oldie with Don Knotts. The kids were scared but not too scared.

Since halloween Ellyn has eaten a few peices of candy, Quinn is eating it like it will never disappear, and Coulson stays awake late at night after eating CHOCOLATE!!!

One of our most recent adventures

A few weeks ago we went to a lake near our home called Quichipa. My husband told me Quichipa means "poo-poo water". That should have been our first sign not to go there. However we were curious and we drive past it quite often so we went to investigate. Upon arrival we find out the reason for the name as we are accosted by a foul stench, yet we continue on. As we begin walking toward the lake my husband spied a large Jolly Ball(dog and horse toy) ahead, since we have dogs he thought he would try to retrieve it. After taking a couple steps one of his feet sunk in mud. This came as a shock to us since the ground around didn't even appear to be muddy. He decided he was too heavy so he sent our 5 year old daughter out to try and get the ball. She made it successfully to the ball so I thought I might be able to make it too. I was holding our 12 month old baby who was just beginning to walk, I made it halfway to the ball when both feet went down in the thick mud, as I was attempting to remove my feet from the mud and clean off, our daughter, Ellyn, had broken through the upper crusted layer of earth into the muck beneath and one of her Crocs was refusing to come loose from the brown goop. Meanwhile I had set our baby down to figure out how to help her, and he promptly began wandering out of reach closer to the lake. (He loves water and so that is where he was headed) What was I thinking!!!! Now, Elly is stuck and mucky, and My husband and I can't go after our baby or we'll end up stuck up to our waists. Our only hope is our 3-year old son Quinn. He usually isn't a team player and especially after seeing us all get muddy he wasn't so willing to go wandering out into the mud trap. While pleading with him our baby gratefully fell onto his back into the mud and couldn't move, so our big HERO Quinn wandered out there grabbed him by the arm and drug him back to safe ground. Needless to say we didn't stay much longer and all we really accomplished was making a bunch of dirty laundry for me to clean. The only one who stayed clean was Quinn. What a great helper!!!!!!!

Adventures

I better explain the title. Our family enjoys going on "adventures" as we call them, even if it is to drop some old junk off at the dump. It gets our kids excited and we try to make it fun. So, I thought it would be a good idea to call this another ADVENTURE. It will also make a great place to report on our "adventures."

Trial Run

So, I'm trying out this blogging thing that has suddenly come into my life from two different directions. Family and friends. I'm quite excited. I enjoy writing in a journal and collecting pictures and now I have a way to share it even if no one else cares!
