Snowboarding, Me?

To tell the truth, when Seth told me we were going snowboarding at Brianhead for our Valentines Date, I was not thrilled. Snowboarding is his thing, I can ski, but I'd never been snowboarding. Well, since we take turns planning Valentines each year, and since it was his idea, he MADE me go along.  Trust me, I did my share of complaining, and maybe a little whining(shhh, because I was scared).  I really didn't want to end up in the hospital that day.
Fortunately, I was able to convinced myself I would like it, since I love the mountains, and the snow, and the lift ride would be fun. If anything I could just walk back down the mountain, Right?
   SURPRISE! SURPRISE!
I really enjoyed myself, and I think Seth had a fun time teaching me.  The snow was lightly falling and there weren't alot of people.  Plus, he never encouraged me to leave the easy runs.  Right at the end of boarding I pulled a muscle, and I was freezing, so it was nice to go back to a REALLY warm room at Cedar Breaks Lodge, with mint hot chocolate, a hot bath, a delicious dinner, and my Awesome husband.
We had such a great time. Of course we didn't want it to end, all the uninterrupted conversation, no homework, piano practice, or chores to do.
(all things I love, but are nice to have a break from once in a while)

WARM FEET!!!

WOOT, WOOT!

If you look really close in these trees you might be able to spot
a Great Horned Owl.  We have a pair that have decided to nest in a cotton wood tree just
across the road from our house.  I can watch them from my kitchen window
and I love hearing them talk with one another and try to imagine what they
must be saying about me when I walk outside to do the chores and the
Woot, Woot, Wooting gets louder.

This picture is down our road, and it was such a pretty night. Too bad I'm not
a great photographer.  This was so much prettier in real life.

Our cat "ROBOT" was a little jealous that the birds were getting all of the attention
so,  I had to snap a shot of her as well.  She gave me a satisfied smile afterwards.
Cats?? Ya gotta love them, especially her she is a Great Mouser.  At the end of the summer we
started having a mouse problem, they apparently had a productive summer.  One evening
as I went to feed the chickens I got a jumping mouse surprise, as I took the lid off the Chicken Scratch
there they were.  All 14 of them had gotten in the feed can but none of them could get out.  I didn't want to kill them myself and I didn't want to scoop them out either, so I stuck "Robot" in.  She ate every single one.  It was over in less than a half an hour and it was entertaining for the kids(and me).
I don't think she ate for 2 days after that.

DIVA DERBY

Ellyn had a fun Pinewood Derby Activity, with the 8-9 year old "Activity day girls"
in our ward.  The room was decorated so cute and the cars weren't just "boy"colors.
The girls had a blast and compared to scout pinewood derby's that I've heard about,
the competitive spirit was NOT so crazy.
The girls were nice to each other and complementive on the cars and
all cheered for the winners.  They just enjoyed racing their cars over and over and over.
They didn't even want to stop for the brownies and icecream, which was delicious.

"I like my birthday's everyone, each brings a greater Joy to me, but I can't wait until I'm 8 for then I'll be baptized you see."   Quinn's so great, he had a wonderful birthday.  Ya, gotta love this kids drive for perfection and his sweetness.  More about his Baptism Adventure later!
